Athletic Facilities

 

Gymnasium

This facility was opened in 1991 and is utilized for interscholastic basketball and volleyball, as well as a wide range of Physical Education classes.  Dances and other all-school activities are also held in the gymnasium.








Fitness Center

The fitness center located in the lower level of Dabney Hall, was renovated in the summer of 2006.  Students and faculty can enjoy a vigorous workout with a variety of weight and aerobic equipment with the comforts of a rubberized floor.   A variety of TRUE fitness equipment includes a treadmill, an upright bike and two elliptical machines.  Also included in the fitness center is a Vectra weight system, a Cateye recumbent bike, a free weight stack and a thera-band system.  While working out students and faculty can enjoy a movie or a workout dvd on one of the two flat panel televisions complete with dvd/vcr systems.


Tennis Courts

Six all-weather hard courts are the home to the interscholastic tennis team and the physical education program.  The tennis facility consists of two sets of three courts that are fully fenced in and have been recently resurfaced.  A 10’ x 40’ backboard hitting space is also included in this facility.

 

 

 

 

 

Nellie’s Field

The field hockey field was dedicated in the spring of 2006.  The playing area is used by the interscholastic field hockey team and also serves as the playing field for the Physical Education field hockey, softball and lacrosse classes.







Soccer Field

The soccer field is used for all home soccer games as well as a variety of physical education classes.   The soccer field overlooks the hunter trial course and dairy paddock.

 

 

 

 

 


Mars Arena

The Mars Riding Arena is the centerpiece of our extensive equestrian facilities that also include 40 stalls, two practice rings, a show ring and a permanent hunter trial course. Measuring 125 by 250 feet in size, Mars Riding Arena allows for yearlong riding, regardless of weather conditions. Its facilities include eight indoor stalls, offices, two wash bays and a common room for rides. The arena was opened in 1998 and is named for the M&M Mars family, whose daughters are alumnae.

 

 

Hunter Trial Field

The permanent hunter trial field sits just below the soccer field and is used by the riding department for a variety of equestrian events including physical education classes.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Fitness Trail

A 1.3 mile fitness trail loops through the woods on the backside of the campus.  The trail which is formed with landscape timbers and a crush rock dust base is used by the entire school community.
