Funding a Chatham Hall Education
Financial Aid
If you require financial aid in order to attend Chatham Hall, you are not alone. Approximately one third of our students receive assistance.
Because we recognize that an independent school education is a major investment that often stretches a family’s resources, we work hard to help bridge the gap between Chatham Hall’s comprehensive fee and what a family can reasonably contribute toward their daughter’s education.
We offer need-based financial aid to families who demonstrate need under Chatham Hall guidelines and those of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). Our resources are limited, with preference given to returning students and new families who apply early. Students who receive financial aid are expected to maintain satisfactory academic standing and demonstrate commendable behavior, effort, and citizenship. At this time, International students are not eligible for Financial Aid.
It is important to understand that admission decisions are made separately from financial aid decisions. Although the admission and financial aid processes run concurrently, financial aid decisions are made only after a student has been offered admission to Chatham Hall.
Applying for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, you must:
- Fully complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), paying particular attention to those items that are circled and submitting supplemental information in the space provided.
- Return the PFS as soon as possible to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, NJ.
- Send a copy of your completed PFS to the Chatham Hall director of admission.
- Submit copies of your 2006 federal income tax return, schedules, W-2 forms, and a signed copy of the IRS Form 4506 to the Chatham Hall director of admission by Feb. 10, 2007. Forms can be obtained from our office or online.
Missed the February 10 deadline? Contact the admission office for financial aid availability.
Special Issues
Situations involving separated or divorced parents can be difficult, and we are sensitive about reaching financial-aid decisions that are in the best interest of the student while taking Chatham Hall’s limited financial-aid resources into consideration. Each situation is considered separately and carefully. We will examine information from both natural parents and consider what financial resources are available for the student’s education from both natural parents and any stepparents.
Financial Aid Award Determination
The director of admission and financial aid will review your PFS, the SSS analysis, and your tax forms and make a recommendation to the Financial Aid Committee. All discussions at Financial Aid Committee meetings are confidential.
